It was just before 7am on Monday morning when Nicole jumped into her car, ready to start the day. She was going to try the new coffee shop that had just opened in town. In order to start the week out right, she needed a kick of caffeine.
First she went on the mobile app to place her signature drink, a medium iced caramel latte with oat milk. Then she connected her Spotify over Bluetooth and put the car in drive.
As she drove, she made a mental list of all the upcoming events in her week ahead.
Soon enough, Nicole was pulling up to the coffee shop. Noticing that she was about to be late if she didn’t hurry up, she quickly ran inside.
Walking through the door, she was struck with the strong aroma of coffee. The baristas behind the counter greeting her a warming welcome.
Wishing she could enjoy the peaceful atmosphere just a little bit longer, she quickly grabbed her drink and ran out the door.
A good experience gone bad.
As she hopped back into the car, she took a few small sips of her coffee. Thinking that it tasted odd, she glanced down at the label.
Seeing that she had picked up the correct order. She decided maybe she was just tired, so she took a big swig.
“Nope, this is definitely not right,” Nicole thought to herself. The familiar taste sending her into panic mode. Oh no, oh no! This was definitely almond milk and Nicole was severely allergic to nuts.
Quickly, she pulled into the nearest parking lot and began digging through her backpack to find her epipen. Hives were beginning to form on her face. With dread, she decided it was time to go to the emergency room before it could get much worse
“Ughh this is just great!” Nicole exclaimed. “This was supposed to be a good start to my day, looks like that’s not going to happen,” she said allowed to herself.
Just 10 minutes later, she was pulling into the all too familiar hospital parking lot.

If only she hadn’t gone to that coffee shop this morning she thought to herself.
She was upset that her day was ruined because of her food allergies, which she always worked so hard to avoid. She decided she wouldn’t be going back there for awhile.
Nonetheless, she knew it was just a simple mistake by one of the baristas. It could happen to anyone, but she needed to go to a coffee shop she trusted from now on to avoid this happening in the future.
